SUMMARY:Library Visioning Open House
DESCRIPTION:WHAT :  Public Open House to Inform the Future of Oscar Grady Public Library\nWHEN : Monday, November 4th — drop in any time and for any duration between 5 and 7 pm\nThis event is intended to collect feedback from the community regarding the spaces and the services provided by the Library. This is a brainstorming session that will be used for long-term planning. Feedback gained from the event will be used by architecture firm HGA to inform their study of the library building in a way that best meets present and future needs.\nAttendees can anticipate post-it and voting dot exercises that will prompt the identification of what library building features should be kept, changed, removed, and added.\nSpaces being considered include small private rooms that would be used for tutoring, online meetings, social service meetings, telehealth, and one-on-one training with librarians. Other spaces being considered are a multi-purpose room for presentations, programs, and community gatherings and a technology equipped room for computer training and online or hybrid group meetings.\nWho should attend:\n\nAll Saukville citizens and citizens of surrounding communities are welcome, including current library users and those not currently visiting the Library.\nChildren are welcome and encouraged to attend. The HGA team will host a children’s design table, allowing them to assemble and design a collage that represents what they would like to see in their library.\nRepresentatives of the IDD and disabled community, business community, educators, social service community, and volunteer community are also encouraged to attend and share their ideas.\n\nBeing that the Oscar Grady Public Library is a public use facility, it is imperative that as many voices from the community are heard as possible.\nAbout HGA \nHGA is a national interdisciplinary design firm committed to making a positive, lasting impact for our clients and communities through research-based, holistic solutions. We believe that great design requires a sense of curiosity—forming deep insight into our clients, their contexts, and the human condition. We are a collective of 1,200 architects, engineers, interior designers, planners, researchers, and strategists. Our practice and our local Milwaukee office spans multiple markets, including libraries, science and technology, corporate, cultural, education, local and federal government, and healthcare.
