Assistive Technology and Design Concepts for Accessibility

View options for assistive technology as it relates to computer use at home and at the library. A demonstration of the following will be provided:

  • * Built-in options for text and voice commands on computers and personal devices.
  • * Equipment for navigating computers without a mouse or keyboard.
  • * Free and paid applications for communication and task management.
  • * Ergonomic workstation items — includes different mouse styles, keyboard styles, sit-to-stand options for desks, and different standing mats.

A discussion of design concepts for creating accessible spaces — both physically and cognitively — will also be provided.

This program is presented by Independence First in collaboration with Oscar Grady Public Library to support inclusive library service in your community.  Representatives from organizations that serve the public are encouraged to attend.

Please help our library improve accessibility by completing this 2 minute survey.
